Why this exists
The manifesto.
It feels alluring to "just let AI do it"See note 1 instead of letting the mind wander.
We're living in a time where AI can do the thinking for us. It always has something to say, it can write a whole story out of thin air. And it doesn't question if it makes sense, it just executes.
Because the more you use AI the better it gets, right? It can think even more like you, sound like you and be the creator that you would be if you'd have more time. While you're cultivating this AI your brain slowly starts to lose the skills, because it's under the impression: I don't need them.See note 2 Slowly, you stop creating, and you start reviewing.
You know who's really good at reviewing? AI.
You know who's really good at creating and sharing original thoughts? Humans.
We believe that AI is there to support humans, not replace them. So why do we replace the parts where we can actually keep our voice, be original and express ourselves through writing?
That's why we built thestory.run. To make AI your assistant, not your replacement.
Keep thinking, keep writing.
Written 100% by a human, in thestory.run, with the arc from the coach.
Our values
You write it, always
The coach asks, listens, hands you an arc and marks what carries the post. It never writes the words for youExcept cheat-mode, which you spend deliberately: a small monthly allowance to have the coach write one post, marked permanently as coach-written..
A point, not a post
It won't find a leadership lesson in your delayed train. It keeps asking until you know what you want to say, and why it's worth someone's time.
You're the one improving
Every draft is a rep, and the muscle you build is yours. It shows up in everything else you write, not just here.
Your goals, not a streak
The strategy is there to keep you honest about what you set out to do, never to make you post for the sake of posting.
If you'd rather write than review, this is where you start.
